I was in prison and you came to visit me.
                                                                        Matthew 25:36 (NIV)

Hope Is on the Way
A Ray of Hope is bringing new joy and purpose to many hurting people within our community. This is a support ministry for those who are grieving the loss of a family member or friend. Help is available regardless of the type of or reason for the loss. Participants do not have to be members of Victory Christian Fellowship.

This outreach is designed to assist brokenhearted people to:

  • Move through grief
  • Return to joy
  • Find complete healing, hope, and restoration, which comes from only God (Psalm 43:5)

A Ray of Hope utilizes a grief-support program called GriefShare, developed by Church Initiative, a non-profit, church-equipping ministry. This program uses a 13-week video seminar, support group, and workbook, which provides teaching about the grieving process while offering care and compassionate support through the journey of grief (2 Corinthians 1:3-4).

Trained, loving, and compassionate staff and volunteers are standing by now to help:

  • Provide immediate and ongoing support for those experiencing grief
  • Accelerate the healthy process of grieving
  • Encourage participants to attend support sessions
  • Promote communication among participants about themselves and their losses
  • Offer education about the process of grief
  • Present biblical teaching about receiving and growing in Christ

Those who complete this grief-support program are finding renewed strength and joy to:

  • Reach out to help others, which promotes healing in their own lives
  • Volunteer in outreach activities
  • Develop deep faith in God, which helps them work through their grief
  • Recognize God’s plan for their lives (Jeremiah 29:11)

Personal Testimony
“My name is Meta, and I am the outreach leader for A Ray of Hope Ministry. I would like to share how I became involved with this grief ministry. On June 5, 1998, doctors diagnosed my beloved husband, with a rare liver cancer. The following year on March 24, 1999, my husband went home to be with the Lord, leaving me a grief-stricken, single parent with three teenage children (15, 17, and 19).

“When I cried out to God for help, He led me to attend The School of Biblical Studies at Victory Christian Fellowship, where the Word of God gave me the strength that I needed for a new life. Through a class assignment and help from the pastoral staff, I learned about the GriefShare program (by Church Initiative). This curriculum, based upon the Word of God, is designed to help people recover from the loss of a loved one.

“After God used GriefShare to transform my life, He spoke to my heart to begin to help others with a similar hurt. Thus, I began the grief-support ministry at Victory Christian Fellowship called A Ray of Hope. If you or someone you know has lost a loved one, let us help. We have seen God work mighty miracles in many lives through A Ray of Hope!”
